I love law school, though. I have so many new friends! No one seems to know my mom's name. But they all know my name! I go into elevators to hear, "Hello Renee!" as I sneak a pat on the head even though I'm not supposed to when I'm working. I even get treats from professors and other law students, whcn my mom takes off my harness to tell me I'm not working, of course. I'm so popular. I'm the cool kid in school, and I love it!
Getting around Madison is very interesting. My mom and I live a little ways away from the school. Sometimes we take the city bus. When we do, I have to work really hard to help my mom cross the street safely, because there isn't a stoplight where we cross to get on the bus. Then, when we get downtown, we have to cross a few busier streets, so I work a lot. I wait till my mom thinks it's safe to cross. She tells me, "Renee, forward." I go if it's safe but don't go if there's a car. Sometimes I don't go even when it's safe, because I get distracted by birds. I love birds! They are so cute and small and fun. I just want to play! But then my mom tells me to go forward again, and if it's still safe, I go.
The cool thing about the law school is that I don't always have to work. It's a pretty safe place for my mom to walk with or without me. Sometimes, my mom gives me time off when she walks to Starbucks or out for lunch with friends. Other times, she takes me along. I like going with her, because her friends are my friends. But I appreciate the breaks, too! When I'm on break, I get to nap in our study room at the law school. It's quite cozy!

When we don't take the bus to school, we take the disability transit. I don't really understand what that means. But basically, someone picks us up at home and takes us right to school. It's been nice in the cold winter! They don't always pick us up on time, though, and I think that makes my mom mad. Mom told me we are moving closer to school soon. That will be cool. I would much rather walk my mom to school each day than to hop on a bus or into a car.
This is all I have time to say for now, but I promise I'll blog more often. I've missed writing to all of you! Thanks for reading my stories.
Wagging all the way,
Renee, the Seeing Eye Dog
